Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located at Gangou Village, Dacaozi of Ninglang Yizu Zizhixian (100o59’E-27o 05’N). It was named by No.4 Team of Yunnan Geological Survey in 1977 and published in Yunnan Lithostratigraphy (ed. Zhang Y.Z) in 1996. It is synonymous to Sanglongtan Fm, which appeared in 1978.


Lithology and Thickness

Oolitic limestone. Formation, 527.3 m thick, is composed of light gray and grayish-white thick-bedded oolitic limestone, fine-grained crystalline limestone and dolomite with few clayey limestones.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It rests conformably on the Lanniqing Fm.

Upper contact

Disconformable contact with the overlying shale of Permian Liangshan Fm
